Primary Purpose: Assist in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Provide supervision of students and serve as a substitute teacher when needed. Work under supervision of certified teacher, administrator, or office staff member.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
High School Diploma or GED
Candidates must possess or be willing to attain certification as an educational aide. (Cost is approximately $80)
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Ability to work well with children
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively
EXPERIENCE:
Some experience working with children
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
- Assist with administrative and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
- Help maintain neat and orderly work areas
- Help keep administrative records and prepare required reports
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the supervising staff members; work with individual students or small groups
- Help supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty (if applicable)
- Keep supervising staff members informed of special needs or problems of individual students
- Serve as substitute teacher as assigned
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned
- Maintain confidentiality
- Perform other duties as assigned.
