Forney, LP, a privately held, middle-market supplier of materials testing equipment is seeking a Shipper and Receiver.

Position Summary:

Shippers/Receivers ship, receive and record the movement of parts, supplies, materials, equipment, and stock to and from Forney.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Receiver

Unpack materials; verify parts and quantities are correct.

Receive Purchase Orders into company software.

Label and put away materials in warehouse.

Pick orders to be taken to shipping.

Perform inventory cycle counts.

Inspect incoming packages for damage and document as necessary.

Shipper

Filling customer orders according to standard operating procedures; pack orders properly so they reach customers without damage.

Must be familiar with filling out Bill of Lading paperwork.

Maintaining and organizing adequate shipping supplies.

Arrange for freight orders to be picked up.

Compare picked items with Sales Order Pick List to verify correct items and quantities are packed for each order.

Ship orders using company software.

Use software to generate paperwork for international shipping.

Perform general physical activities in order to load, unload, sort and move shipments by hand or using material handling equipment

Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of shipment.

Pack, seal, and label materials to prepare for shipping.

Perform tasks in multi-temperature environments.

Adhere to shipping and receiving policies/procedures, and regulatory compliance procedures.

Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and/or standards and complete appropriate documentation as required.

Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.

Use a computer, including typing, email, and navigating company software.

Working with wires, using hand tools and handling small components requires manual dexterity.

Using cranes, fork truck, air tools, hand tools, etc. to perform the job.

Operate machinery including sit down forklift, man lift, overhead crane, and walk behind forklift; load and unload trucks with forklifts.

Operate power & pneumatic tools –table saw, power drill, wrench, utility knife, staple gun, and nail gun.

Maintains safe and clean work environment

Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.

Wear the proper safety equipment.

Job Qualifications and Skills Required:

· A Shipper/Receiver should have the following skill sets: active listening, reading comprehension, instructing, coordination, time management, speaking, writing, mathematics, monitoring, social perceptiveness, and critical thinking.

· The following abilities are important to the role of Shipper/Receiver: oral expression and comprehension, problem sensitivity, written comprehension, information ordering, speech clarity and recognition, category flexibility, deductive reasoning, strength, multi-limb coordination, near vision, control precision, manual dexterity, and arm-hand steadiness.

· Frequently read memos from suppliers, customs forms, supervisor instructions, co-worker notes, shipping contracts, material safety data sheets, storage and handling recommendations, standard operating procedures, policy manuals, and health and safety procedures

· Utilize, complete and/or read labels, warning and direction symbols and signs, receiving logs, weekly inventory sheets, invoices, order forms, packing slips, bills of lading, customs forms, rate charts, shipping lists, schedules, etc.

· Shipper/Receivers will require some specialized training such as regulatory and health and safety training. A Shipper/Receiver must have a driver’s license and/or forklift certificate.

· Proficiency in inventory software, databases and systems.

· Proven working experience as a warehouse worker and familiarity with warehouse practices and methods.

· Must have the ability to safely operate overhead cranes and fork trucks.

Physical Capabilities:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and be able to switch from sitting to standing frequently throughout the shift. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

This position requires duties to be performed in a warehouse setting where the temperature may vary and be higher or lower than a normal indoor temperature.

· Requires frequent standing, kneeling, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting, climbing and performing work in overhead areas.

· Requires walking considerable distances throughout the facility during the course of his or her shift.

· Requires reaching for objects anywhere from floor level to overhead areas.

· Depending on the materials and equipment involved, the shipper receiver position may experience exposure to loud noise and/or hazardous chemicals.

The duties of this position are repetitive in nature and both hands must be used to operate tools and manipulate materials. There is frequent use of a keyboard and computer monitor.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.57 - $23.60 per hour
