Job Summary:
The Patient Care Supervisor is accountable and responsible during a scheduled shift for managing and guiding the activities of the hospital including, but not limited to, the staff, environment, patients, and visitors. Must be able to clinically participate in all components of the nursing process. Exhibits knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. They will demonstrate the knowledge and skills appropriate to communicate and interact with patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Reports directly to the Director of Nursing.
Performance Expectations:
- Ability to effectively communiciate with department directors, coordinators, staff, patients, phyisicans, and other members of the organizations administrative and leadership team in a manner that is consistent with a customr service focus and application of positive language principles

- Collaborates with Unit Directors for all aspects of patient care
- Manages and guides the staffing matrix for upcoming shifts including placing staff on low census or call as the hospital census dictates
- Maintains the staff call in log
- Updates the master schedule with any updates
- Performs duties required within the hospital to continue maximum functionality during staffing crunches or emergencies
- Functions as a mentor and resource to unit staff provide oversight for students/new employees/preceptorships, identifies levels of organizational conflict and applies tools to effectively resolve concerns, complaints, or dispute with patients, families, physicians, and other interprofessional healthcare team members.

- Completes accurate and timely documentation

- Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patients, from pediatric to adult in performance of duties and responsibilities
- Proves the ability to make assignments and delegate job duties to staff based upon patient acuity, census, and best practice guidelines to deliver safe, quality care
- Able to safely utilize equipment including, but not limited to: defibrillator, V/S machine, portable and wall suction devices, Accu-Check, Medication Dispensing Machines, SCD pumps, IV pumps, Feeding Pump, Patient warmer, Blood/fluid warmer, and patient beds.
- Validates the promotion and adherence to the organization's established Compliance Program and Standard of Conduct, and regulatory standards

Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
preferred.
