What are the responsibilities and job description for the STUDENT DX TECH position at Forrest Health?
Job Summary:
Performs patient examinations and related activities; performs patient procedures in accordance with established protocols, demonstrates knowledge of digital environment; demonstrates knowledge of pushing images to PACS, maintains patient records; assures the correct patient is being imaged in accordance to hospital protocol of checking at least two patient identifiers prior to completing examination, and patient's clinical history is complete; Stocks cath lab rooms with needed supplies, starts IV's and/or administer contrast, as needed, maintains and adheres to accepted sterile techniques and provides clean environment within procedural area. Share emergency call, as required. Demonstrates appropriate computer skills. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Demonstrates knowledge and skill to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, and vendors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Knowledgeable of Radiation Safety ALARA principles and practice. Works under the direct supervision of the Cath Lab PCC, Cath Lab Manager, and Cath Lab Director.
Performance expectations:
- Demonstrates the ability to assist with procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of radiation safety practices and appropriate protective safety devices, as applicable.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform the duties required in pre/post procedure.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of PACS equipment and operation.
- Demonstrates ability to operate cath lab equipment
- Demonstrates appropriate patient care skills, such as body mechanics, familiarity with code cart, IV maintenance, and maintaining a safe environment.
- Demonstrates willingness to be assigned any other duties as needed within scope of practice
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Pending graduate of an approved AMA school of radiologic technology required.
Work Experience:
Preferred senior student in an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Registry eligible-American Registry of Radiologic Technologies with an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below
- Basic Life Support (Within 30 Days of Employment Required)
