Forrest Valley Day Care Center, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that has been in existence for over 40 years. As an organization one of our goals is to build strong foundations to set our students up for success as they progress in their education. We are not just a school, as education is not our only focus, we take a whole child approach and work to infuse positive experiences and outlets for all those we serve. We are currently accepting applications/resumes from outgoing, creative, and committed Toddler Teachers. Our ideal candidate will be willing to take initiative in curriculum building and establishing a warm and welcoming classroom that our students look forward to coming to each day. The candidate must able to perform the following responsibilities including but not limited to:
Duties:
- Directly supervises children at all times.
- Communicates frequently with children throughout the day, naming objects, actions, using who, what, when, where. and why, and open ended questions.
- Co-plays/interacts with children during play activities both indoors and on the playground.
- Treats each child with dignity and respect, recognizing the cultural and socio-economic diversity of the population.
- Responds to the individual needs and learning styles of children.
- Responds to children in distress promptly and appropriately.
- Is responsible for all mealtime activities of the group. Helps children serve themselves family-style and sits with children; preferably eats with them. Monitors children closely during meals.
- Will follow the appropriate diaper changing procedures and assist families/toddlers who are engaging in potty training.
- Provides a well-balanced schedule of individual/group activities, and active/quiet activities with variations of structure.
- Creates and submits weekly curriculum plans to Center Director.
- Reads to children DAILY.
- Prepares or makes available in advance, materials needed for planned activities.
- Acknowledges parent and child with a greeting at drop-off and pick-up.
- Communicates with parents daily, reports at least one positive event (accomplishment, amusing anecdote, etc.) about each child to the parent.
- Makes parents aware of classroom and center activities, and encourages family involvement
- Ensure that items (papers, dirty clothes, etc.) are taken home and follows up with parents on items to be brought to the center.
- Respects the confidentiality of families and takes care not to speak in front of the children about that child or other children.
- Will maintain an active First Aid/CPR certification and participate in various professional development courses as assigned by the Center Director.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education is preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and practices
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage a classroom effectively
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
