Club Information:
Founded in 1913, Forsyth Country Club is steeped in tradition and continues to serve as an important part of the history of Winston-Salem. Since its inception, Forsyth Country Club has been distinguished as one of the premier clubs in the South. The Club is nestled on 172 acres of pristine rolling hills in Winston-Salem, NC. The Club serves approximately 1000 member families. Facilities include:
- 45,000 sq. ft. clubhouse includes recently remodeled casual dining and bar area; seating 200 inside with seasonal patio seating 150
- Multiple banquet rooms renovated in 2022, including a ballroom that seats up to 330 people
- Men’s and ladies’ locker rooms
- 18-hole Donald Ross golf course
- 11 outdoor tennis courts
- 2 outdoor platform tennis courts
- 4 permanent pickleball courts
- 18,000 sq.ft. Pool and Fitness Pavilion including state of the art health and wellness center, pool kitchen area, locker room facilities, and laundry and clubhouse maintenance
Position Summary:
Responsible for all aspects of swim team including; creating a positive learning environment, instilling a sense of pride, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship, and establishing a culture which embraces the desire to improve.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Hires, directs and supervises assistant coaches and the team manager
- Partners closely with parent volunteers to develop mutually agreed upon goals
- Utilizes hands-on coaching strategies and tactics
- Schedules and leads regular practices
- Organizes team for swim meets
- Maintains strong communication between coaches, swimmers, parents and parent volunteers
- Upholds the philosophy of the swim team
- Leads and motivates swimmers to be their best
- Maintains team records
- Prepares heat sheets with help of assistant coaches
- Participates in summer sign up night and swim team organizational meeting
- Ensures the safety of swimmers at the practice by following proper precautions and regulations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Acute knowledge of swim meet operations
- Acute knowledge of strokes and swimming techniques
- Effective leader and communicator to both swimmers and parents
- Highly organized with a varied schedule
- Consistently follow and monitor COVID protocols as set forth by the club
Education, Certification/License, and Experience:
- Experience as a competitive swimmer
- Experienced swim instructor
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
Working Conditions/Environment:
- Sometimes stressful, hot and wet environment
- Short-term seasonal position from May to August
- Effective communicator under pressure, working with children and adults
- Position requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk. Lifting and carrying items up to 10 pounds is necessary and lifting up to 25 pounds is required occasionally.
