Description
A Substitute Teacher at Forsyth Country Day School fills in for our teachers when they need to be absent from the classroom. Substitutes have the opportunity to work with students at all levels from Preschool through High School. A Substitute Teacher provides a safe, nurturing environment for students in his or her classroom, utilizing the school’s instructional program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follows the lesson plans and classroom procedures of the absent teacher and ensures optimal, engaging learning for students

Employs a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, attitudes, and backgrounds

Assigns classwork and homework as prescribed by the teacher

Maintains a positive learning environment for students

Supervises students outside of the classroom, in hallways, at lunch, at activity, and at drop off and pick up, if required

Communicates with teacher regarding lesson plans and what was accomplished that day

Maintains a positive attitude and conducts oneself professionally with respect to students, faculty, parents and the community. Embodies the FCDS core values of Respect, Curiosity, Responsibility, Integrity, and Compassion.

Qualifications
PREFERENCES:

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field is preferred

Teaching experience preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Regularly required to walk, including across uneven ground, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds

Must be able to sit and stand throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.

Must be able to operate a computer and have basic knowledge of Google Workspace

Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed

Must be able to utilize oral and written communication skills effectively
