Lower School Third and Fourth Grade Instructional Assistant Teacher
Job Description
A Lower School Instructional Assistant in third and fourth grade is a part-time employee who is passionate about supporting the students and teachers of the Lower School as they live out Forsyth Country Day School’s mission of preparing our students for what’s ahead. Instructional Assistants will conduct small group literacy and math lessons and will be responsible for planning and executing these lessons. Instructional Assistants are committed to growth as professionals and individuals, and value and respect every member of the community.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Hours: Daily 8:30-12:00
- Support a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth
- Support student performance in all areas of development: social/emotional, literacy, math
- Plan and execute small group math and literacy lessons using FCDS curriculum standards
- Attend grade-level meetings as needed
- Support appropriate instruction in line with the school standards, curriculum, and student needs
- Create a positive, respectful educational climate for students to learn
- Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with colleagues, students, and families based on trust, understanding, and respect
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies
- Attend Professional Development

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum two years of teaching
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Regularly required to walk, including across uneven ground, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to sit and stand on the floor throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
- Must be able to operate a computer and have basic knowledge of Google Workspace
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed
- Must be able to utilize oral and written communication skills effectively
