Description
12 Month Position
DUTIES:
- Assists in developing and upholding athletic vision, mission statement, and program philosophy while cultivating relationships within the FCDS community
- Reports regularly to Head Athletic Trainer
- Assist with coordination of inventory and ordering of all Athletic Training room supplies and equipment
- Assist with and be available for Medical Coverage of all athletic contests, scheduled practices, and tournaments
- Responsible for supervision of Student Athletic Training interns
- Assist with communication and coordination with physicians and physical therapists regarding the return to play of athletes post-incident or surgery to assist in the athlete's transition back to competitive athletics
- Assist with in-house rehabilitation and pre-conditioning of injured athletes when in-season and the scheduling of in-house rehabilitation opportunities for those athletes during the off-season and summer months
- Responsible for some game operations including coordinating set-ups and take-downs of necessary medical supplies including but not limited to medical supply kits and making water available
- Assist with the maintenance and reconditioning of all protective equipment inventory
- Coordinates medical coverage (including communication with other schools, providing a medical supply kit, and necessary water) for all travel of FCDS teams and all incoming opponents
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer
Qualifications
GENERAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, phone
- Technological expertise is an advantage:
- Software: Google Workspace, Word, Excel, and Record Keeping software
- Ability to communicate effectively with email, write letters, create spreadsheets, and utilize scheduling software are important skills
- Enthusiastic and energetic attitude
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work well within a team atmosphere
- Must be able to demonstrate the unique ability to remain flexible while staying focused on the task(s) at hand
- Must be able to communicate well with students, parents, coaches, and sports medicine team to allow FCDS student-athletes to compete at a high level while maintaining the students’ health as the first priority
Requirements:
A. Education Level: BA/BS in Sports Medicine, Exercise Science, or Similar Curriculum
Must be NATABOC certified and NC License eligible
B. Experience Desired: Experience at the High School or Collegiate Level a plus
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Regularly required to walk, including across uneven ground, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to sit and stand on the floor throughout the day
- Must be able to operate a computer and have basic knowledge of Google Workspace
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed
- Must be able to utilize oral and written communication skills effectively
