Forsyth County Government has an exciting opportunity for a highly organized and detail oriented professional to work as an accounting specialist. An employee in this position will enjoy detailed verifications of accounting entries against bank activity. Verifying and processing the cash receipt journals requires interaction with departmental contacts and vendors. Data entry skills will be utilized in posting journals and recording collections such as occupancy tax, vehicle rental tax, heavy equipment tax and property tax collections. The biggest challenge will be learning the Oracle modules including receipts, general ledger, procurement and cash management. The job offers a variety of additional daily tasks which include filing, remote capture check deposits and answering the department phone on a rotating basis. The successful candidate is responsible for conducting analyses of financial operations throughout the county. Duties include reviewing and evaluating county financial systems and assisting in developing new systems. The employee will exercise independent professional judgement. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated through conferences, reviews of reports and recommendations. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting, and some experience in accounting related activities.
- Receives, scans, and transmits daily deposits and ensures deposit accuracy.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual invoices.
- Consolidates cost sharing information for all departments.
- Conducts fixed asset accounting.
