Forsyth County's Department of Parks and Recreation Department is seeking to fill an opening for the Maintenance Manager position at Triad Park. This is an opportunity for a multitalented individual to lead a team in all aspects of park maintenance required to effectively maintain a 400 acre park.
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the overall operation and maintenance of all associated facilities and grounds located therein. Park facilities may include picnic shelters, multiple restroom facilities, enclosed banquet facilities, overnight stay locations, aquatic features, amphitheater, playgrounds and various other buildings and park infrastructure. Park grounds may include sports fields, disc golf courses, trail systems, wooded property, open field space, pastures, turf and landscape, lakes and ponds. The Maintenance Manger will be responsible for the supervision of work crews performing semi-skilled work in building maintenance, mechanical systems, grounds maintenance activities, park construction activities and maintenance duties associated with various special events. Work includes performing skilled to semi-skilled mechanical repair work as needed. A successful candidate will be required to use independent judgment and initiative to determine appropriate levels of maintenance and repair procedures for scheduling and assigning personnel to repair work. This position will be required to effectively plan and schedule in yearly, monthly and weekly intervals.
The Maintenance Manager will collaborate with subordinate staff and the Assistant Director of Park Operations to identify, prioritize and manage improvement projects. This position will properly execute service contracts by developing specifications, meeting with contractors to secure bids, scheduling contractors and project documentation. The Maintenance Manager will participate in personnel recruitment and selection activities, conduct performance appraisals, provide training for employees, manage the department's computerized maintenance management system, be responsible for monitoring and assisting with preparing the operational budget for the division.
Work environment is outdoors with exposure to weather, multiple types of machines, various pesticides, and heights (in bucket truck and man lift). Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs.A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:Thorough knowledge of the materials, methods, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds.
Considerable knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment used in maintenance.
Considerable knowledge of the codes and other guides applicable to facility operations.
Ability to estimate labor and material needs for maintenance operations.
Ability to read plans and specifications.
Ability to establish priorities and maintain appropriate work standards.
Ability to train, supervise and evaluate the work of those supervised.
Ability to establish and enforce safety rules.
Ability to keep records and to prepare reports.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Completion of technical school program in the relevant trade and four years of relevant experience.
Requires one year of supervisory experience.
Valid NC driver's license is required.
A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
Salary : $60,445 - $69,512
