What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician II - Plumbing position at Forsyth County (NC)?
An employee in this position maintains a variety of plumbing throughout Forsyth County Government facilities. This position provides corrective maintenance as well as preventative maintenance to all Forsyth County facilities including LEDC general plumbing conditions. Specific examples of work include: Plumbing inspections, repairs, replacement of faulty fixtures, and troubleshooting. Occasionally, this position may help other trades (Electrical, Electronics, HVAC, General Construction) as needed.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Skills needed:
- Considerable knowledge of the plumbing trade, procedures, and codes
- Ability to prepare cost estimates for repairs and upgrades.
- Ability to work closely with other trade groups and be able to work unsupervised.
- Knowledge of the hazards and applicable precautions of work.
- Ability to review blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
Heavy lifting at times in excess of 50 lbs. This position has frequent periods of walking and standing.
When working in the LEDC, this position will work in close quarters with the inmate population of at times, with close supervision from security staff.

- Graduation from high school or GED and at least three years of experience in the relevant building trade (plumbing).
- A valid driver's license.
- This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for minimum qualifications requirements.
