What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner position at Forsyth County (NC)?
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Thorough knowledge of health appraisal tools, laboratory tests and findings, and therapeutic procedures;
Thorough knowledge of available resources and appropriate referral methods;
Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of general medicine and disease states;
Skill in performing clinical functions & clinical assessments;
Ability to record accurately and completely all information necessary to evaluate and plan care and to convey this to the physician;
Ability to teach and counsel patients, their families, and other health professionals;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, and to gain the confidence of patients and families and work effectively with them;
Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of general medicine and disease states.
Graduation from a Physician Assistant program approved by the N. C. Board of Medical Examiners and approved to practice medical acts based on education and experience by the Board of Medical Examiners or;
Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Board of Nursing, graduation from a Nurse practitioner program approved by the N. C. Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of medical Examiners, and approved to practice medical acts based on education and experience by the Joint Subcommittee.
Prefer one year of experience working as an extender and at least two years of experience in working as a physician extender in a clinical setting.
Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) preferred.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Approved to practice specified medical acts by the North Carolina Board of medical Examiners or by the Joint Subcommittee of the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners.
Clinical Provider essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Coordinates the operation of the Tuberculosis control program, provides consultation for the immunization, refugee and child health programs
Maintains medical records
Attends meetings and conferences.
Continue to see patient at appropriate intervals and arranges for patients to be seen by a specialist if appropriate.
Discusses patient's condition and recommended course of action with the patient
Reviews laboratory reports.
Performs physical examinations, orders diagnostic tests, prescribes treatment or refers problems to a physician.
Obtains medical histories and other relevant information from patients.
Performs related duties as assigned.
