What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Services Specialist, Part-Time (Respite) position at Forsyth County?
The purpose of this classification and position is to assist the Team Leader in our Respite program. This is a program designed to serve those living with dementia and provides respite for caregivers and families. Individuals in this classification are expected to ensure that the tasks pertaining to the program are carried out correctly and efficiently; each specialist works under direct supervision of the Team Leader and exercises only limited discretion with regards to team activities.

Coordinates activities of an assigned program/service designed to assist clients of the senior center with various aspects of life: assists the team leader with implementation of programs; provides assistance and guidance to participants in the Respite program.
Assist in the Respite program that benefits clients living with dementia: helps prepare the calendar of program and activities for the day program; assists in providing structured program including activities such as brain fitness, trivia questions, games, puzzles, crafts, singing, exercise, lunch, and snacks; works to provide clients with a relaxed atmosphere and a sense of security in surroundings and with volunteers; encourages clients to participate in activities.
Interacts with and assists program participants as needed: addresses concerns for participants and assists with problem resolution; maintains an awareness of the general well-being of participants; reports any suspicion of problems that might require intervention to supervisor.
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, client reports, waiting lists, referral forms, registration forms, nutritional screening instrument forms, calendars, mileage reports, reimbursement reports, or other documents. Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, referrals, maps, medical resources, product instructions, policies, procedures, manuals, directories, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing or other computer programs. Communicates with supervisor, employees, students, volunteers, other departments, clients, passengers, the public, community agencies, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
