What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Officer position at Forsyth Technical Community College?
The non-sworn Part-time Security Officer will provide safety and security for students, staff, and faculty. Enforce all rules and regulations of the college as directed, including state and federal laws where prohibited.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent or higher
- Have a valid North Carolina driver’s license
- Willing to work varied shifts, as needed
- Certification in CPR and first aid.
Preferred:
- Prior campus security experience
- Knowledge of general office duties and experience in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Physical Demands
- Protects and safeguards Forsyth Tech students, employees, and visitors from criminal or potentially dangerous situations.
- To protect College property from theft or vandalism.
- Assist Campus Police officers in deterring criminal activity on campus.
- Builds rapport with students and employees allowing them to have a sense of security on Forsyth Tech campus.
- Assist with special events as requested by the Forsyth Tech police department.
- Provide assistance to any individual in need of medical attention.
- Enforce all campus parking/traffic regulations.
- Provide assistance to any individuals in need of medical attention.
- Enforce campus parking regulations.
- Provide assistance for disabled vehicles and retrieve keys from locked vehicles.
- Periodically patrol buildings and grounds of the College campuses.
- Examine doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
- Assist sworn officers with door locks/unlocks
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
