What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Assistant, Health Sciences position at Forsyth Technical Community College?
The Staff Assistant in the Health Sciences Division will provide essential support through secretarial, clerical, and compliance services. This role involves maintaining budgets, managing purchasing processes, assisting faculty and students, and contributing to the cohesive functioning of the division.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three or more years of office/administrative experience.
- Understanding and commitment to the unique nature and role of the College.
- Experience with technology, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
Clerical:
- Prepare contracts, distribute schedules, and handle correspondence.
- Assist in faculty orientation and student events.
- Maintain personnel files and assist with purchase requisitions.
Budget and Purchasing:
- Maintain records, follow up on transactions, and stay current on college policies.
- Process travel requests for faculty and update them on the status.
Students:
- Support students by listening to concerns, providing moral support, and assisting with student registration.
- Handle inquiries and requests for information from students and the public.
Contributions to Community:
- Work as part of a team supporting community partners.
- Actively engage in student recruitment, engagement, and retention efforts.
- Participate in college work groups and contribute to the shared vision of the college.
- Assist with college and program recruiting events.
Continuous Development:
- Develop a professional development plan and stay informed about current technology.
Culture of Belonging:
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team.
Other:
- Adhere to all college policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the divisional dean and department chair.
