About the Job:
We are seeking a skilled Technical Support Specialist I to provide tier II support for workstations, applications, mobile devices, network infrastructure, and related technology. This role involves installation, testing, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and peripherals within Fort Bend County standards and guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify, analyze, and initiate resolutions as second-level support for all PC and peripheral connectivity devices.
- Install, relocate, and upgrade computer-based systems and computer peripherals.
- Respond to troubleshooting calls and repair malfunctioning equipment to assist employees as needed; serve as departmental liaison.
- Support complex client/server systems maintaining minimal outages to end-user computing.
- Collaborate with I.T. staff to determine and resolve problems received from county employees.
- Diagnose connectivity problems; resolve or coordinate resolution of problems.
- Interact with application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve intricate problems.
- Meet attendance requirements and maintain accurate timesheets according to departmental policies.
- Participate in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field, and 1 year of relevant technical experience, or High School Diploma with 3 years of relevant technical experience.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail; Strong problem-solving skills; Ability to evaluate a problem and determine an effective course of action; Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously; Excellent customer service skills; Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows operating systems and Mobile IOS; Proactively stays informed of technological advances and trends in IT.
- Able to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain prompt and regular attendance.
- A or N certifications preferred.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP; Working knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, network cabling, wireless, and remote access methodologies; Highly organized, with exceptional attention to detail.
