Job Overview
The HVAC Helper will assist the HVAC technicians in the completion of preventive maintenance for HVAC equipment throughout the District facilities. This incumbents work is performed under direct and close supervision.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Technical
- Change filters in HVAC units, reset air handler units
- Check Level I HVAC equipment specifications such as tightness of belts, temperature of motors, cleanliness of ducting and other performance indicators
- Use small hand tools such as screwdrivers, socket sets, pliers, and wire cutters, etc. to perform routine preventive maintenance
- Load materials, tool and equipment on trucks; carry tools and equipment to and from work sites

Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
