Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operational
- Perform system checkout and repairs and assist in automation systems startups for service installed jobs
- Disassemble and reassemble instruments and all related equipment, using hand tools and inspect instruments and equipment for defects
- Operate computers utilizing common word processing, spreadsheets and HVAC applications
- Handle emergency service calls as directed during the day and after hours
- Analyze and convert data, using mathematical formulas and report results to lead/supervisor
- Manage assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction
- Report problems or changes to senior technicians/leads/supervisors immediately
- Communicate with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site concerning the nature of service provided and/or outstanding issues
- Meet regularly with customer to become familiar with operating problems
- Compile job documentation and keep records
- Conduct extensive self-study (ready, research and practice) to keep abreast technical proficiency
- Complete and maintain any required certifications required by District

- High School diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Drivers License
- Minimum of 1 year Supplementary training equivalent to an apprenticeship in one or more energy/electrical related maintenance trades
- Must have some experience using general computer programs and software applications such as MS Word and Excel
- General knowledge of electrical and mechanical principals
- Skilled in the use of general tools and testing equipment pertinent to the job
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and to read and interpret plans, design specifications, diagrams, schematics, and manufacturers manuals
- Ability to perform routine record keeping tasks and complex mathematical computations
- Ability to read, write and speak English

Additional Information
- Work requires sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and hand-eye-foot coordination to perform all essential tasks, including operating and using all tools, equipment and vehicles; lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50, pounds; working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time; climbing and working from ladders up to 25 feet high. Work is performed both inside and outside school district building and facilities, and often requires working unusual hours and may be designated for 24 hour on-call. Employee is exposed to a wide range of climatic conditions, dust, flammable or toxic chemicals, and loud noise. Employee is also exposed to potential electrical shock and other physical hazards when working on electronic components and systems, operating tools and equipment, and working in high places or cramped spaces. Work requires vision necessary to determine color differences. Employee is required to wear and use safety clothing and equipment and to comply with safety policies and procedures. Must be able to handle stressful situations as necessary.
