Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Classroom Instruction
- Assess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes. Continually assess student achievement and maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes
- Plan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities including determination of appropriate kind and level of materials and equipment
- Implement an instructional program which provides appropriate learning experiences, considering different learning styles and a range of learning curves
- Manage the behavior of learners in instructional setting to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process, and assists and participates in management of student behavior in other parts of the school, center, school grounds, or work site
- Implement and monitor the extracurricular code of conduct
- Coordinate instructional related and testing activities with other professional staff, both school and non-school-based, to maximize learning opportunities
- Utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
- Work in a self-contained, team, departmental, itinerant capacity, or at field work site, as assigned. As needed, request assistance of and works with resource personnel
- Participate in in-service and staff development activities and staff meetings
- Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student(s) progress
- Continually communicate with students on instructional expectations and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations
- Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
- May assign work to and supervise instructional assistants, parent, and student volunteers
- Ensure classroom/gym and/or instructional environment is attractive, healthful, safe, and conducive to learning and that materials are assessable to students and in good condition
- May, as itinerant, serve at two or more schools on a regular basis. May make off-school site visits to monitor students, confer with employers, or site instructors
- Support or participate in school wide student activities and social events and approved fund raising activities
- As assigned or required, monitor student behavior in non-instructional areas and intervene to control and modify disruptive behavior, reporting to appropriate administrator as appropriate
- Collaborate with other district and campus team members to carry out school wide instructional or related activities
Qualification Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology or health-related field
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a PE teacher or an PE Aide at the elementary level will be considered in lieu of specific content degree requirement
- Valid Texas Physical Education Teaching Certificate
- Current CPR Certification or will be required to obtain prior to first day of employment
- Demonstrated knowledge of FBISD program of studies related to assignments and public school mission, goals, and organization
- Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned
- Demonstrated knowledge ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
- Demonstrated knowledge to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and wellness
- Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent human relations skills
- Strong organizational and team-building skills
- Proficiency in coaching as well as experience in designing daily lesson plans and practice plans is preferred

- Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors in varying climate and weather conditions.
- This position may require travel to various campuses, district meeting sites and conferences/meetings in and out of state. This position may require the employee to work some evenings and weekends. Work may include noisy and/or disruptive student behavior. Potential exposure to bodily fluids and frequent childhood, pre-teen or teen illnesses may occur.
