Job Overview
The Teacher Dance (Middle School) will plan and implement an instructional dance program and provide related educational services for students in assigned grade levels in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Fine Arts supervising dance. The incumbent will manage student behaviors, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify / control instructional activities as required. Travel between middle school campuses is required. Irregular or prolonged hours may be required..
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of appropriate instructional / learning strategies and activities, including determination of appropriate type and level of materials in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Fine Arts supervising dance
- Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
- Assess student abilities and achievement as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes and maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes
- Assist and participate in management of student behavior in all parts of the school, center, school grounds, or work site both during and outside of school hours; monitor and enforce compliance with the Fort Bend ISD Student / Parent Handbook, Student Code of Conduct and Extracurricular Handbook
- Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student(s) progress
- Communicate with students on instructional expectations and keep them informed of their progress
- Ensure classroom and / or instructional environment is beneficial, healthful, safe, and conducive to learning and that materials are accessible to students and in good condition
- Travel between middle school campuses required
