Job Summary
The Development Associate will assist in coordinating fundraising activities to achieve the development and communication goals of Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels. This role involves managing the donor database and donor stewardship, assisting with special events and the solicitation of auction items, and identifying and researching potential donor prospects. The Development Associate will provide essential administrative support functions and contribute to development and communication efforts, including website updates, social media, e-newsletter content, and promotional materials. This position requires a high level of independent thinking, flexibility, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and priorities. Strong attention to detail and professionalism, along with excellent writing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills, are essential for success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain the donor database, including inputting daily gifts and reconciling records with accounting and the executive assistant.
  • Identify and research donor prospects and support individual donor giving stewardship.
  • Create reports and prepare timely acknowledgments and receipts for contributions.
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of fundraising activities and special events.
  • Utilize event software and coordinate volunteer recruitment, schedules, and training during events.
  • Support marketing efforts by creating and updating promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, and digital content.
  • Assist with community outreach, including participation in networking events.
  • Attend relevant meetings, seminars, and training as necessary.
  • Perform general office duties, including receiving visitors and answering phone calls, as needed.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Associate’s degree minimum; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Familiarity with nonprofit organizations, fundraising principles, and managing complex donor databases is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Canva; basic knowledge of Adobe Suite, Video & Graphics
  • Communication Skills: Strong writing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build relationships and influence others.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to initiate, manage, and follow through on multiple projects with excellent time management skills.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be needed to be in different locations in the agency and in the public on occasion. Hybrid work may be possible after 90 days.

· Salary: $39,520 - $41,600 per year based on experience
