ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interviews and exams patients, including complete history and physical examinations when indicated. Orders, performs, reviews and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests and studies. Diagnoses a wide variety of illnesses and conditions. Prescribes a wide variety of therapies and interventions based on information obtained and professional medical judgement. Arranges for specialized care of transfer of patients requiring a higher level of care, or care not readily available.
- Performs various in-patient and outpatient procedures approved by the MEC through the credentialing process.
- Conducts outpatient continuity clinics for patients with a wide variety of obstetrical and gynecological conditions. Initiates, reviews and modifies medications and therapies as indicated.
- Maintains appropriate medical records and documentation of interviews, examinations, therapies, interventions and follow-up plans.
- Provides various consultations and instruction in care, within the scope of practice, to providers in the department, in other departments and in other hospitals.
- Provides on-going medical education for rotating medical students, residents, and students of other health care disciplines.
- Works closely with Allied Health Professionals in the provision of broad health program services.
- Serves as a consultant to primary care providers of the FDIHB Inc. Serves as the OB/Gyn on call as scheduled or when needed.
- Serves as a member of the Clinical Staff and attends committee meetings. Participates in the performance improvement activities. Ensures that the department and subordinate departments are in full compliance with CMS, EMTALA and hospital standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- No additional experience required outside of a completed residency program as defined in the Education qualifications listed below.
Education:
- Completion of an accredited Medical School Program.
- Completion of an accredited Obstetrics and Genecology Residency Program.
License/ Certifications:
- Board Eligible (BE) or Board Certification (BC) by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) or American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Active, unrestricted Medical License from an U.S. State or Territory.
- Current, valid, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License.
