Position Description
JOB TITLE: Elementary Library/Media Assistant
F.L.S.A. Non Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalency;

Able to work well with young children;
- Capable of performing duties and tasks as assigned, independently and in a dependable and prompt manner;
- Record of good attendance on the job;
- Clear criminal history record.
- Punctual and regular attendance following a designated work schedule
- Must be able to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Librarian
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Clear Criminal History; Temporary Contract for New Hire
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
To Assist the Librarian/Media Specialist in the following:

Operating and supervising the library to which assigned
-
Assists teachers by making library materials available to supplement the instructional program
-
Provides educational experience for students in the area of library resources
-
Works with teachers and administration in the selection and acquisition of appropriate books, periodicals, and other resource material
-
Maintaining a quality audiovisual equipment inventory and instruct teachers and staff on proper use
-
Assists with the operation of the Channel One program and the Accelerated Reader program
- Performs such other responsibilities as are assigned by the Librarian/Media Specialist or site principal.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be required to accomplish essential job functions directed by the appropriate administrator(s)
- Promotes a positive professional image
- Must have human relations and communication skills including telephone skills
- Ability to perform supervision including planning, executing and completing assignments in a timely manner
- Keep accurate and detailed records and to honor student confidentiality and provide safekeeping of records
- Working knowledge and the ability to operate a microcomputer and be proficient in word processing and database software.
