What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Safety Officer position at FORT HALL CASINO?

About the Role:

Hotel Public Safety Officer will work with all departments of the Shoshone Bannock Casino Hotel to ensure the safety and security of the guests, employees and property. A Hotel Public Safety Officer should be highly attentive to irregularities and capable of sound judgment in difficult situations. Hotel Public Safety Officer is responsible for accurately and thoroughly investigating, following up and reporting all Casino Hotel related illegal incidents, which occur, on Casino Hotel property including the Buffalo Meadows RV Park. Will patrol parking lots and work special events and concerts to mitigate illegal activity on property.

This position does not possess any supervisory responsibilities. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain in good standing an Idaho Driver’s License and qualify for Fleet Management coverage to operate company vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hospitality Certifications, loss prevention experience, or public safety/law enforcement experience. Preferred
  • CPR/AED and TIPS certification (obtained during introductory period)
  • Basic Incident Command System (ICS) ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible for reporting to the immediate supervisor any irregularities, damages, tampering, vandalism, or suspicious activities of team members, guests, vehicles, property belonging to Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel, or other equipment and items entrusted to the Casino Hotel. 
  • Will be required to use communication systems to include but not limited to Phones and Radios. 
  • Will safeguard all Gaming and Hotel equipment and property. 
  • Will generate electronic and/or written reports as necessary regarding security-related incidents involving guests, team members, facility, and property. 
  • Will give escorts to guests and team members, when assigned or as needed. 
  • Will observe guest and team members, while posted or on patrol. 
  • Will patrol to identify potential safety hazards and prepare written reports to the appropriate individual, for proper resolution. 
  • Becomes familiar with hazardous materials used on property, and all applicable laws, rules and regulations governing same. 
  • Coordinates situations with security team members or emergency personnel; informs outside agencies of any unusual or suspicious situations on property when directed. 
  • Operates Casino Hotel vehicles and may be called upon to assist with local transports for special events. 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the Casino Hotel facilities, as well as special events on property, to advise guests and fellow team members of same, whenever possible.  
  • Interacts with guests and team members in a positive and professional manner. Provides a maximum level of Legendary Service and satisfaction throughout the property. 
  • Attends regularly scheduled departmental meetings and trainings 
  • Retains a series of keys when issued, accessing locked areas or equipment as necessary. 
  • May be required to certify for bicycle patrol and utilize company patrol bicycles as selected or assigned. 
  • Leads by setting a positive example to all employees. 
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record. 
  • Maintaining order at public gatherings and events on Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel property. 
  • Ability to perform other job(s) related task or duties that relate to your position and or abilities within the scope of a Security/Public Safety professional. 
  • MUST MAINTAIN STRICT CONFIDENTIALITY OF ALL INFORMATION PROCESSED THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT INCLUDING RECORDS, REPORTS, DOCUMENTS, CONVERSATIONS, ETC. A breach of confidentiality will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination from employment. 
  • Responsible for practicing safe work habits in the performance of the job.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude while working under pressure. 
  • Ability to be mobile, able to run 1500 feet or more, walk upstairs and in rough, uneven terrain, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. 
  • Ability to bend over and reach from floor to height of six (6) feet; eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity, ability to reach with hands and arms; ability to feel objects, tools, or controls; ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of 8 hours or more. 
  • Normal hearing required; ability to talk; ability to listen and discern sounds in both noisy and quiet environments. 
  • The Employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.), and occasionally lift and/or move up to one hundred pounds (100 lbs.). 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus in both bright and low light environments. 
  • Ability to ride a bicycle, drive a van, truck, or car.
