Acting as one-on-one companions for patients needing continuous observation

The Patient Support Assistant provides supportive services to assist patient care units.
Responsibilities of this position include :
- Provide constant supervision, maintains visual contact, and ensures safety of the patient who is at high risk for harm. This includes an awareness of patient activity at all times, including when patient is in the room, hallway, bathroom, or off the unit, and when family / visitors are present.
- Provides companionship and ensures a safe environment to the patient who is at high risk for falls, exhibits signs of confusion, and / or is cognitively delayed
- Assists with feeding and meals, as directed by clinical staff
- Notifies clinical staff of unsafe or concerning behaviors or language
- Assist clinical staff with other responsibilities as assigned by nursing staff / leadership
