Fort Larned USD 495 is seeking a High School Assistant Principal/Athletic Director for the 2025–26 school year. This leadership position serves grades 9–12 at Larned High School (approx. 230 students) and supports 7th–8th grade athletics at Larned Middle School. This administrative position plays a key role in student achievement, school culture, and athletic program coordination.
We’re looking for someone who leads with integrity, builds respectful relationships, and models the support we expect across our district. Most importantly, we are seeking a leader who is student-centered and committed to doing what’s best for kids in every decision they make.
To be successful in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following:

Valid Kansas building-level leadership license or eligible for certification through KSDE

Ability to help oversee a safe, orderly, and positive school environment

Skilled at supporting academic achievement for all students

Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, staff, and families

Ability to manage and coordinate school athletics and activities

Ability to support staff and coaches while keeping programs running smoothly
