What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Teachers Grades K-5 for the School Year position at Fort Leavenworth Unified School?

Fort Leavenworth USD 207 is accepting applications for Elementary Teachers (grades K-5) for the 2025-2026 school year. Interested candidates are asked to complete an application (via the USD 207 District Website www.usd207.org - see Career and Employment Tab) with an up-to-date resume and a copy of their current KSDE teaching license.

Qualified candidates must currently hold a valid Kansas teaching license, or be reasonably assured of securing a Kansas teaching license with appropriate endorsement prior to July 1, 2025, of the upcoming school year to be eligible for consideration.

Summary of Essential Job Duties (Professional Responsibilities, not an exhaustive list)

Participate in professional growth activities, such as workshops, organizations, and / or graduate school.
Perform duties and tasks, both assigned and voluntary.
Recognize an obligation to understand and comply with administrative policies and procedures.
Use appropriate channels of communication for problem solving.
Complete reports and records with punctuality and accuracy.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and co-workers
Accept constructive criticism as a possible means of self-improvement.
Accept share of overall responsibilities.
Maintain confidentiality in areas of professional responsibility.

Diagnose learning needs of students and specify objectives

Communicate clearly and effectively with students

Demonstrate ability to organize and manage a classroom

Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time

Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone

Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height

Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead
