Position Summary
The Fort Lewis College Post Office provides a mail processing center to the campus processing mail and packages for all students, faculty, staff and community members. The workday is split between window service 50% and back office duties 50%. Additionally, this position will assist with training student employees on mail and package processing, mail delivery routes across the Fort Lewis College campus and to deliver mail to departments as needed.
This is a full time year round Administrative Assistant I position that works Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the campus post office. The pay rate is $17.88 per hour. Previous verifiable State of Colorado administrative assistant experience will qualify the applicant for additional step pay. This position requires the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally and up to 20 lbs. constantly.
This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, state paid short term and optional long term disability, state paid life insurance and optional life insurance as well as paid accrued annual and sick leave, and other college provided benefits.

Job Duties
Data Entry 25%
Input and correct data on Fort Lewis College data systems for upcoming semesters; perform data entry for Fort Lewis College mail boxes for students living on / off campus and community members. Utilize the Fort Lewis College data systems to forward mail in compliance with USPS regulations.
Customer Service 20%
Answer phone calls and relay information that is requested; provide directions, individual information, and mail advice to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Window Service 25%
Provides USPS service to all faculty, staff, students and the general public. Consistently lift up to 50 pounds and team lift anything heavier when processing packages.
Carrier & Trainer 20%
Utilizing the campus mail vehicle, bring mail from the main post office to campus every morning. This is a daily occurrence requiring a valid driver license, and a satisfactory driving record is required and must be maintained to drive any state-owned vehicles. Sort and distribute mail to Fort Lewis College mail boxes. Oversee the loading of mail for delivery to faculty and staff across the Fort Lewis College campus. Train work study students on the mail delivery routes across the Fort Lewis College campus. Oversee and monitor work study students as they help with the sorting and forwarding of mail and packages. Train work study students as to proper work procedures, including sorting, delivering mail, and forwarding mail and packages.
Maintenance & Inventory 10%
Perform routine maintenance and repairs to Fort Lewis College mail boxes. The window clerk will be responsible for maintaining the inventory of supplies for USPS services and any other supplies needed to run the service windows. The window clerk will notify the Fort Lewis College Post Office Manager of any supplies that need to be ordered from online sources.
