The Fort Madison Community School District is searching for an outstanding, experienced educational leader to join our administrative team and become the next Assistant Principal in the Fort Madison School District. The successful candidate will instructionally assist the Principal in leading building staff.
The district is located in southeast Iowa serving 1,800 students in grades PK-12. Fort Madison Elementary School serves approximately 1,000 students. Fort Madison Jr Sr High School serves approximately 800 students. Each building is administratively supported by a principal and two assistant principals.

- Follow a building-level communication system that effectively meets the needs of staff and students.
- Maintain a visible presence in the school by visiting classrooms, engaging with students and staff, and participating in school activities.
- Build relationships with students and staff to promote an inclusive and supportive school environment.
- Attend school events, meetings, and community functions to strengthen ties between the school and the community.
- Assist the principal in supervising and evaluating instructional programs, ensuring alignment with state standards.
- Provide support for the principal with professional development for teachers to enhance instructional practices.
- Analyze student achievement data with the principal regarding curriculum decisions and instructional strategies.
- Utilize the Professional Learning Community (PLC) process.
- Have a strong understanding of curriculum implementation, assessment, and instructional practices.
- Assist principal with conducting regular performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback to staff.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth.
- Assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
- Implement effective discipline policies that promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Address student behavioral issues in a fair and constructive manner.
- Support students' social, emotional, and academic needs through approved programs and initiatives.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with parents, community organizations, and stakeholders.
- Assist principal in communicating regularly with families regarding school events, policies, and student progress.
- Actively involve the community in school activities and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local education regulations.
- Assist in managing school facilities and ensure a safe and maintained environment for learning.
- Assume the responsibility for the observance and implementation of Board policies and administration regulations.
- Serve as a member of such committees and attend such meetings as directed by the principal.
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related educational field.
- Valid Iowa certification in School Administration with Evaluator Approver.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience and experience in an administrative role, preferably in the 7-12 setting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
