What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Wash Bay Attendant position at Fort Madison Community School District?
Job Description:
- Performs intermediate skilled work in the daily operation of the transportation wash bay.
- Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the district vehicles and school buses.
- Performs related work as required. Ability to work independently. Substitute Bus Driver.
- Required to work 40 hour weekdays. Possible overtime weekend.
- Work is performed under regular supervision of the Director of Transportation
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
- Work requires climbing, balancing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.
- Ability to inspect small defects and/or small parts, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, and observing general surroundings and activities.
- Subject to outside environmental conditions, noise, vibration, and atmospheric conditions.
Essential Job Functions:
- Follows schedule and standard procedures for vehicle cleaning and washing vehicles/buses
- Assists garage personnel in the movement of buses; including short trips for maintenance or delivery of buses in the event of an emergency breakdown, fuel district vehicles as needed.
- Performs the daily cleaning of the interior and exterior of designated vehicles.
- Sweeping/mopping/dusting, washing windows, vacuuming. Repair bus seats as needed.
- Maintains cleanliness of service wash bay and maintains equipment used in the wash bay.
- Gathers/disposes refuse, litter and trash. Assists with snow and ice removal
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies and equipment and inventory.
- Oral and written communication
- May be required to work during inclement weather.
- High school diploma. Regular, reliable attendance is necessary.
- Valid driver's license. If offered a full-time position, will need to obtain Class B CDL with airbrakes, passenger and school bus by the end of the 90 day probation.
- Must pass DOT physical examination if offered a full-time position.
- Subject to alcohol and controlled substances testing as required by the DOT.
