Social Worker
DEPARTMENT: Wassaja Family Services
REPORTS TO: Social Services Supervisor
DEFINITION/PURPOSE:
Provides social services to families in need.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.
TASKS:
- Work as a WFS team member;
- Assess, develop and implement case plans necessary to support or assist families in need;
- Case manage children, adults and elder clients;
- Make referrals;
- Provide community outreach services through education and prevention programs;
- Conduct home visits and home studies;
- Case file documentation and maintenance, complete court reports as needed;
- Participate in weekly case staff and WFS team meetings;
- May provide services beyond normal business hours;
- CPS On-call rotation required;
- Initiate counseling services for individuals as needed;
- Establish network of community resources which may include other tribal, state or federal agencies;
- Travel to out of home placements;
- Site visits to facilities;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Knowledge of tribal, state and federal child and adult welfare and protection statutes, rules, ordinances, laws, and policies;
- Knowledge of NASW code of ethics; HIPAA, Confidentiality and Security standards;
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques;
- Knowledge of availability of community and social services resources;
- Skill in case management of complex caseloads;
- Knowledge of accreditation standards;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Proficiency in personal computer work processing and database software usage;
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with other team members, departments of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, service providers, and state and federal agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
1) Masters preferred with Bachelor’s degree required in Social Work or related field; 2) Two years experience as a social worker in a social services or behavioral health environment involving case management, crisis intervention, substance abuse/treatment, education or program development; 3) Current Arizona driver’s license and able to meet FMYN insurance standards; 4) Experience working with Native American Communities preferred.
PAYRATE: $56,351.11 to $67,621.34 (DOE)
