What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Athletic Director - High School position at Fort Mill School District 4?
Reports to: Athletic Director Primary
Role: The Assistant Athletic Director will provide administrative support for the planning, direction, implementation, supervision, and assessment of interscholastic programs at the High School. The Assistant Athletic director will promote co-curricular activity that fosters skill development, sportsmanship, understanding of sports and appreciation of being a team member.
The candidate will understand and embrace the mission of the High School; possess superior character and integrity; demonstrate strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Work with students, parents, faculty and administrators as part of the Athletic Office administrative team.
- Assist in the selection and assignment of coaches and staff.
- Assist in the organization and scheduling of interscholastic events.
- Assist in hiring game day staff: ticket takers, scoreboard staff, announcers, game administrators and event staff.
- Assist Athletic Director with confirming officials and payment of officials for contest.
- Assist in arranging and confirming transportation request for athletic programs.
- Assist in coordinating practice schedules for gym and athletic fields.
- Organize and update the athletic website.
- Game day operation: supervisor and assistant at home games during the school year (afternoons, nights, and weekends).
- Assist in posting alerts and/or messages to students, parents, and families in regards to athletic cancellations, changes, etc.
- Maintain knowledge of the SCHSL rules.
- Assist in gathering paperwork needed for the eligibility process required by the SCHSL.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal and Athletic Director.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in sports management, physical education or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Schedule Star experience a plus, or similar scheduling software experience preferred.
- Experience working in an educational environment preferred.
- Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated organization skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to physically lift and carry equipment.
