Reports to : Executive Director of Special Services
Job Goal : To provide leadership in the development and maintenance of social services for children and their caregivers to enhance their educational experience.
Consultation / Intervention Responsibilities and Skills
- Provides support, consultation and direct intervention to children and families in the area of social skills development, behavior management, and parent education.
- Provides leadership to school staff in designing remediation plans for students with academic and behavior problems.
- Establishes rapport and communicates effectively with students as evidenced by comprehensive assessment or therapeutic information / intervention.
- Communicates effectively with parents / teachers regarding their child / student's learning and behavioral strengths, weaknesses, and needs.
- Facilitates communication and coordination of services between school, home, and various community agencies (e.g., Community Mental Health, Juvenile Justice, Head Start, Social Services, and other Health Agencies).
- Serves as liaison between the Office of Special Services and various school personnel.
- Consults and provides support to staff and students in school crisis situations, such as abuse and neglect cases, deaths, traumatic incidents and extreme family problems.
- Provides consultation and training to teachers and teacher assistants in the areas of social skills, behavior management, and working with parents.

190-day contract; Compensation based on FMSD Teacher Schedule; 7.5 hours / day, 5 days / week; Exempt Level.
