Job Title: Front Desk Receptionist/ Department: Health Center
Patient Registration
Reports To: Patient Registration Employment Status: Full-Time
Supervisor
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Classification: Sensitive
Supervisory Status: No Salary Minimum: DOE
Driving Classification: Valid Driver’s License Shift: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Summary:
This position is in the Patient Services Section, Fort Mojave Indian Health Center, Health
Department, Mohave Valley, AZ. This position exists to systematically and efficiently process
patients through the appointment process for medical and specialty care. This individual is located at
the reception desk and is responsible to appoint patients appropriately and timely and assure that the
patient is eligible for care at this facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following list outlines key responsibilities for this position. Additional duties may be assigned as
needed:
- Greet all patients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answer phones and process calls to the appropriate person or department.
- Discuss with patients to obtain pertinent patient registration information. (i.e., demographic
and insurance information and authorization to enable billing for the health care services
provided from all alternate resources, including the non-beneficiary services.
- Schedule patients with the doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, lab and other needed
illness.
- Document the scheduling information in the computer system used for this purpose.
- Verify the patient demographic information during the scheduling process.
- Maintains, enters, updates, and verifies all alternate resources data necessary for patient
- Collects third party recipient health cards, obtains photocopies of the card and explains
- Assist patients and their families with the internal process of obtaining appropriate medical
- Monitor patients signing in for appointments, ensure they have signed the appropriate form.
- Inform patients that are more than 10 minutes late that they will have to reschedule or may
- Generate super bills for add-on patients and give them to patient registration.
- Monitor lobby activity to ensure that patient services are completed in a timely manner.
- Interact with nursing and medical staff regarding special needs or potential delays in care.

• Determine which add on and walk in patients may require a higher level of triage and obtain
- Adheres to ALL HIPAA guidelines and the Privacy Act regulations.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Required: Be organized and able to manage multiple tasks in stressful situations.
- Required: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.
- Required: Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
Education/Experience:
- Required: High school diploma or GED.
Language Ability:
- Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and police
Math Ability:
- Basic math skills
Reasoning Ability:
- Required: Good critical thinking skills that allow for quick assessment of patient needs.
Computer Skills:
- Required: Good computer and phone skills.
Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Material Utilization:
- Operate computer, phones, copiers, and other office related equipment..
