JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Security Guard Department: Aha Macav Housing Entity
Reports To: Director Employment Status: Full-Time/Part-Time
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Classification: Sensitive
Supervisory Status: No Salary Minimum: DOE
Driving Classification: Valid Driver’s License Shift: Graveyard
Summary:
This position provides a security presence to ensure that tenants have a safe environment. The
security guard’s primary duties include patrolling the Housing premises to deter criminal activity,
monitoring surveillance systems, and reporting suspicious behavior. Maintaining a visible presence
to deter potential threats against the Housing community to protect the tenants and taking appropriate
action when necessary. This position is scheduled for graveyard.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following list outlines key responsibilities for this position. Additional duties may be assigned as
needed:
- This position is under the general supervision of the Housing Director.
- The incumbent conducts hourly rounds to ensure that the Housing office and AZ/CA Villages
- Provides a security presence by patrolling assigned areas to identify potential security risks.
- Observes and reports any criminal or suspicious activity to the proper authorities.
- Prepares concise nightly written reports on activities or problem areas for the Tenant
- Maintains telephone and vehicle logs nightly and sends reports to supervisor after every shift.
- Adheres to the AMHE’s Security Policy and Procedures and FMIT’s Personnel Policy and
- May be requested by the Board of Commissioners or Director to attend monthly board
- Refrain from direct confrontation regarding serious situations unless unable to do so, always
- Maintain and be responsible of the security vehicle.
- Immediately report any damages or thefts of AMHE property this includes vehicle, bicycle,
- Will do bicycle, foot, and car patrol.
- Responds promptly to emergencies such as fire, medical situations, or other serious scenes
- Maintain and secure all official equipment assigned.
- Always conduct yourself professionally and wear assigned uniforms at all times while on duty
and perform your duties in a manner that reflects credit upon yourself, the Housing Entity,
and the position you hold.

• Observing the precepts of truth, accuracy, and discretion without allowing personal feelings,
- Assist with eviction process through the tribal judicial system.
- Ability to travel for training.
Qualifications:
- Required: At least six (6) months of experience as a Security Guard/Officer.
- Required: Minimum age requirement: 21 years.
- Required: Strong writing and communication skills.
- Required: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Required: Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
Requirements:
- Required: Must be CPR and First Aid certified or obtain within 30- days of hire.
- Required: Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace as a condition of
- Required: Must have the ability to interact effectively and with interpersonal communication
skills to receive direction, and exchange information with co-workers, police personnel, and
tenants.
- Required: Must have the ability to always provide excellent customer service.
- Required: Must have the physical ability to perform foot and bicycle patrol for long
distances.
Education/Experience:
- Required: High school diploma or GED required.
Language Ability:
- Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and police
Matth Ability:
- Required: Basic math skills
Reasoning Ability:
- Required: Strong reasoning and logical problem-solving skills.

Computer Skills:
- Desired: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus but not mandatory.
Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Material Utilization:
- Operate hand-held radios, cell phones, bicycles, copy/fax machines, printers, computers,
Certificates and Licenses:
- Required: Valid driver’s license with insurability under the Tribe's auto insurance carrier.
- Required: First Aid and CPR certifications are required within three (3) months of hire
(training will be provided by Anya Estates if needed).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Physical Demands:
- Required: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Perform duties in extreme summer conditions and moderate weather conditions.
- Frequently required to stand for long periods, walk long distances, stoop, bend, kneel, and
crouch.
