Job Summary:
Fort Morgan High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Cheer Coach to lead our cheerleading program. This position is responsible for developing a competitive, spirited, and disciplined cheerleading team that supports school athletics, fosters school spirit, and represents the values of Fort Morgan High School. The Head Cheer Coach will oversee all aspects of the program, including skill development, choreography, game-day performances, and competition preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Development:

Establish a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and school pride.

Plan and lead structured practices focused on skill progression, technique, and performance readiness.

Develop engaging sideline cheers, halftime routines, and pep rally performances to promote school spirit.

Organize and supervise cheer camps, clinics, and tryouts.

Oversee participation in competitions, camps, and community events to enhance team exposure and experience.
Athlete Development & Safety:

Provide proper instruction and technique training to ensure the safety of all cheerleaders.

Monitor student-athlete eligibility and academic progress, reinforcing the importance of academic success.

Implement and enforce injury prevention strategies and ensure adherence to safety guidelines.
Administrative & Organizational Duties:

Develop and maintain a team budget, fundraising initiatives, and uniform/equipment inventory.

Schedule and coordinate team participation at games, events, and community engagements.

Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, school administration, and athletic staff.

Ensure all required paperwork (physicals, waivers, eligibility forms) is completed and submitted in a timely manner.
Collaboration & Community Engagement:

Work closely with the Athletic Director, school administrators, and other coaches to align cheer with school-wide athletic programs.

Foster positive relationships with parents, boosters, and the community to enhance program support.

Promote school spirit and encourage student and community involvement at athletic events.
Qualifications & Requirements:

Previous cheerleading coaching experience at the high school level preferred.

Strong knowledge of cheer techniques, stunting, tumbling, and choreography.

Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes in a positive and structured environment.

CPR, First Aid, and Concussion Training Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Understanding of CHSAA rules and regulations related to cheerleading.

Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
Compensation:

Stipend position based on district salary schedule.
Salary : $2,800 - $3,360
