What are the responsibilities and job description for the FOHS Attendance Secretary - Immediate opening position at FORT OSAGE HIGH SCHOOL?
The Attendance Secretary position works closely with the other building secretaries at Fort Osage High School and reports to the principal of Fort Osage High School.
This is a 7.5 hour a day position, paid for 194 working days in the school year, but will be prorated for the 2024-2025 school year as it is an immediate opening. District-paid health care and other employee benefits available. Training is provided in order to meet the demands of the job.
Pay rate begins at $16.21/hour, but placement on the pay range scale is adjusted based on previous years of experience.
Purpose
The job of Attendance Secretary is done for the purpose/s of ensuring accurate attendance accounting within the District; ensuring compliance with state reporting and documenting requirements; conveying attendance related information to appropriate parties; and providing general clerical support, information and/or direction as may be assigned at assigned school site.
Essential Functions
- Maintains automated student attendance system(s) and student files for the purpose of ensuring accurate tracking and documentation of student attendance.
- Maintains a variety of manual and electronic documents files and records (e.g. picture orders, computer use agreements, planner policy agreements, notification logs, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
- Notifies parents and/or guardians and health room personnel of student absences for the purpose of meeting District administrative requirements and mandated guidelines.
- Oversees the teacher supply deliveries for the purpose of ensuring the items arrived safely and timely.
- Participates in department and/or in-service meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Prepares and files attendance related reports and written materials (e.g. standardized/special reports, letters, passes, attendance slips, files attendance letters, maintain disipline files, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
- Processes a variety of documents and materials (e.g. report discrepancies, status changes, absence verifications, bus note requests, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information in compliance with established administrative guidelines.
- Procures homework assignments from teachers as requested for the purpose of disseminating information to absent students.
- Receives a variety of items (e.g. mail, special deliveries, packages, supplies, lunches, band instruments, homework assignments, etc.) for the purpose of distributing materials to appropriate parties.
- Reports attendance (e.g. students in and out of class, visitors, A members, and YouthFriends, etc.) for the purpose of maintain proper data of people in and out of the school.
- Researches discrepancies of attendance information and/or documentation for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of data.
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of individuals (e.g. staff, parents, probation officers, other schools, students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among parties and/or providing direction.
- Writes and corrects reports for the purpose of ensuring the student data is correct.
Other Functions
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 15% walking, and 5% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.
