POSITION TITLE: Supervisor of Child Nutrition
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Child Nutrition
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240 Days and benefits will be specified in the employee contract. Contract will be prorated based on the actual start date.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field (Master's degree and Registered Dietitian credentials preferred).
- 2 years of supervisory experience in child nutrition management or a related field.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to child nutrition programs.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with menu planning software and nutritional analysis tools.
- Strong working knowledge of computer applications

SUMMARY
The Supervisor of Child Nutrition is a pivotal role within the school district, responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing aspects of the child nutrition program. This position ensures the provision of nutritious and appealing meals to students, compliance with regulatory standards, and the promotion of healthy eating habits.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the nutritional quality of meals served.
- Coordinate procurement of the child nutrition program.
- Develop nutritious and well-balanced menus that comply with federal, state, and local nutritional guidelines.
- Stay current with changes in nutritional standards and adjust menus accordingly.
- Develop and manage the child nutrition program budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Collaborate with financial staff to monitor expenses and revenues.
- Implement and maintain quality assurance measures to ensure the safety and quality of food service.
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchens and food service areas.
- Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and parents to promote nutrition education and healthy eating habits.
- Address concerns and feedback related to the child nutrition program.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to inform students and parents about menus, nutritional information, and special dietary considerations.
- Promote awareness of the importance of nutrition in academic performance.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing child nutrition programs.
- Complete required reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Engage with the community to promote the child nutrition program and garner support.
- Participate in community events to raise awareness of nutritional initiatives.
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities to enhance the child nutrition program.
- Prepare grant applications and manage funds in compliance with grant requirements.
- Participate in training: Attend professional development and conferences as needed (travel in and out of state may be necessary)
- Provide training or retraining as needed to enhance or correct program
- Provide leadership to ensure productive employees, promoting personal pride in their job.
- Assist in kitchens when necessary.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance and demonstrates the ability to maintain positive professional working relationships with others.
- Evaluates and supervises departmental staff.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- To perform other duties as assigned.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting.
