JOB SUMMARY:
This position performs accounting duties related to the operations of the Fort Valley State University Foundation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages and reconciles FVSU Foundation accounts.
- Receives and reviews check requests from account holders; produces checks for these requests.
- Inputs deposit information into software systems.
- Prepares financial reports.
- Provides assistance to donors and account holders.
- Prepares acknowledgement letters for donations.
- Delivers checks to university personnel.
- Delivers and retrieves mail.
- Performs related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of IRS regulations.
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting and tax codes.
- Knowledge of University System of Georgia policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
- Skill in decision making and problem solving.
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required.
- Two or more years of related experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- The work consists of varied accounting duties. Strict regulations and the need for accuracy contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to perform accounting duties in support of foundation operations. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations.
PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table.
- The work is typically performed in an office. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
