JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Softball Coach aids the Head Softball Coach in all facets of the program to develop an elite NCAA DII women's softball program. As Assistant Softball Coach he/she helps the head coach as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the teaching the sport of softball to student athletes at Fort Valley State University.
- Assist with the evaluation, recruitment and retention of softball players at Fort Valley State University.
- Assist with meeting the recruitment and retention goals set and assessed annually by the College.
- Assist with visiting and for recruitment purposes prospective students and their families following the guidelines of the SIAC Conference and NCAA Division II.
- Knowledge of softball and experience working with pitching is desired.
- Assist the Head Coach with recruitment reports.
- Assist with daily planning, organization and supervision of practices and competitions.
- Contribute to the overall program of a residential college.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Effective experience as a college or university softball coach.
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques associated with softball coaching. Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate complex tasks and procedures.
- Excellent organization and supervision skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Maintain valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
- Willingness and ability to work effectively with all campus and associated constituencies. Have a working familiarity with computer systems (including social media).
