FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Grant Supervisor.
Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. JOB SUMMARY :
The grant supervisor is an annually renewable position. It is the responsibility of the grant supervisor to manage the grant and monitor student progress, strengthening funds management and grant coordination. It is the responsibility of the grant supervisor to provide administrative support to the PI, support for the student's program activities, ensuring the accuracy of all files and coordination with other departments at the institutional level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- In addition, efforts will be directed to establish a bridge with other universities to attract their undergraduate students to the FVSU STEM graduate programs.
- Keeping track of the progress of the funded students in various graduate programs
- Extend the reach of the grant to the STEM disciplines
- Responsible for contacting feeder undergraduate institutions for the recruitment of potential graduate students.
- Responsible for the day-to-day issues related to the grant, e.g. preparation, maintenance and deposition of required administrative grant reports and other correspondence.
- Assist the PI in the management of all administrative support program functions
- Help monitor academic progress of the students compiling timely reviews of students' progress, collecting pre- and post- student assessments in their area of study.
- Arrange calendar specific graduate events : campus tours, and field trips.
- Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day procurement of supplies and equipment.
- Prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos and emails.
- Schedule meetings, help prepare agendas for meetings and help with travel arrangements.
- Represent FVSU outside of regular office hours on occasion and performs other grant duties as assigned.
