FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Mental Health Administrative Liaison (Part-Time).

Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.

JOB SUMMARY:

As a key resource within the University's Mental Health/Counseling Unit, the Mental Health Administrative Liaison (MHAL) will be responsible for bridging contractually performed University mental health/counseling resources and services to additional relative third-party entities as needed. The MHAL will work part-time, directly ensuring the seamless integration of all counseling-related services with the primary mental health service provider, Atrium Health Navicent to ensure a holistic and interwoven array of student counseling services, relatable to expanded counseling services. In addition, the candidate will perform mental health/counseling services for our students during non-business hours and holidays, as needed.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a liaison between the University and the University System of Georgia with matters regarding mental health services for students.
  • Serve as a liaison between the University and approved service engagements with external partners.
  • Manage internal and external communication among students, staff, faculty, and auxiliary partners.
  • Manage project-related documentation by ensuring all necessary materials and data sets are current, properly interpreted and disseminated, filed, and stored.
  • Communicate with internal units and external partners on all matters relevant to approved mental health provisions and to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for student requests for mental health counseling services, both routine and urgent
  • Perform all relevant counseling duties to ensure stabilization of mental health needs.
  • Participate in meetings and program trainings.
  • Complete other duties and activities as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in mental health/counseling or any related field and 1-year related experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills capable of maintaining strong relationships.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Team-management and leadership skills
  • Documentation management and ability to use project management tools.
  • Attention to details even under pressure.
  • Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Skills - communication (oral and written), activity management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree (Mental Health/Social Work).
  • 2 years of experience.
  • Specialized knowledge, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Professional Certification(s) Mental Health Evidenced Based Practices.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Some lifting (up to 25 pounds) may be required when sending or receiving shipments, in handling samples, supplies or literature, and transport of laptop computer.
