Job Summary:
This position is a temporary, short-term position to assist Plant Science Researchers with research project on Medicinal plants research in the greenhouse and laboratory. This includes knowledge of running various equipment, troubleshooting minor problems, and assist graduate students in their thesis research.
Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary job duties and responsibilities include:

Maintaining greenhouse stocks, and tissue culture of medicinal plants germplasm.

Collection of fresh biomass and processing it for phytochemical analysis related to bioactive compounds, essential oils etc.

Drying biomass and storing at -80C.

Maintain inventory of potting mix, garden soil, potting containers, fertilizers, and other greenhouse accessories.

Data collection in the greenhouse and lab.

Help train undergraduate students and visiting interns.
Minimum Qualifications:

Undergraduate or graduate degree

S. in agriculture / plant biotechnology / botany from an accredited college.

Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) or similar software Preferred qualifications include:
-
MS preferred with research experience in plant tissue culture.

Hands-on experience in laboratory and/or field experimentation techniques

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and analyzing data using SAS.

Experience with laboratory work such as washing glassware, cleaning, organizing supplies

Experience with greenhouse and/or field work with plants
Working Conditions:
This position is with plants, so weekend work may be requested. The applicant must be able to work in a climate-controlled office using a computer or laboratory using equipment.

Travel required - Traveling for collaborative research (5-10%)

Evening/night/weekend work - Monday - Friday 8AM-5PM

Working outdoors - Field and greenhouse research pertaining to ongoing research projects (5%)
Physical Requirements:
The physical requirement of the job relates to field and lab experiments. There may be a need to lift objects that are up to 15-20 lbs. in weight.
