Position Summary
FVRLibraries is seeking a full-time (40 hours/hour) Public Services Librarian. We are looking for someone who is willing to lead by example and enjoys actively participating in the daily operation of the branch, including routine circulation duties. This position is responsible for:
- Work regular shift in the branch provide a full range of information services to patrons of all ages, including responding to reference and reader’s advisory questions, locating materials, and instructing patrons in using library technology.
- Collaborate with branch staff to plan and implement library programs, promote library services, and build relationships in our community.
- Work with internal and external partners (FVRL employees, inside and outside of the branch) in order to facilitate outreach and/or partnership with community members.
- Note: This position does not supervise other staff members.

Schedule & Location
This position is assigned a weekly, recurring schedule, but will be expected to flex their schedule to participate in programming and outreach activities.
Tuesday: 9:00am – 6:00pm
Wednesday: 9:00am – 6:00pm
Thursday: 10:05am – 7:05pm
Friday: 9:00am – 6:05pm
Saturday: 9:00am – 6:05pm
Education & Experience
To be considered candidates must have:
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program or the ability to obtain a Washington State certification upon hire.
- Have at least 1 year of related work experience, including customer service.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay grade spans from $24.64/hour to $36.96/hr. Compensation for this position is negotiated by AFSCME for their members as part of the collective bargaining process. AFSCME members participate in a Growth & Development (G&D) plan which entails demonstrating successful completion of activities associated with your job classification to obtain progression (pay) increases.
FVRLibraries covers 90-95% of full-time employees’ health insurance premium cost and 90-100% of dental insurance premium costs. In addition, we provide employees with Life Insurance, AD&D and Long Term Disability Insurance at no cost to the employee. Employees have the ability to enroll in additional, voluntary life insurance, income protection plans, flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts.
Our employees enjoy 12 paid holidays throughout the year. Full time employees accrue 8 hours of sick leave per month. The initial vacation leave accrual is 11 hours per month; this increases over time based on years of employment. We also offer other types of paid time off for situations such as jury duty, bereavement leave, inclement weather and more.
