FVRLibraries is seeking a full-time Training & Development Coordinator for our Operations Center in Vancouver, WA. The Training & Development Coordinator is responsible for fostering the growth and development of district staff through strategic training programs and performance management. This role involves collaborating with district managers and supervisors to assess training needs, design effective and engaging content, and promote a culture of continuous learning aligned with district values. The Training & Development Coordinator will manage the district’s Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring accurate training records, compliance with policies, and smooth course administration. In addition, this role oversees the district's orientation and performance evaluation programs, working with managers to provide constructive feedback and create development plans. The coordinator will also lead the staff development and training committee, contribute to district-wide and community projects, and stay informed on industry trends to continuously enhance training and employee development strategies.
Essential functions:
- Collaborate with district managers and supervisors to assess training needs, evaluate the effectiveness of current programs, and identify opportunities for employee growth. Focus on enhancing employees' skills and knowledge in alignment with district values and commitment to providing exceptional service to library patrons.
- Design, develop and facilitate effective, engaging asynchronous training content that utilizes adult learning principles and best practices in instructional design to ensure training effectiveness. This may include self-paced online courses, pre-recorded videos, and interactive learning modules. Work with others to assist in creating similar content, ensuring it aligns with organizational goals and enhances long-term skill retention.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning by creating systems and strategies to support ongoing skill development, periodic reinforcement, and long-term retention.
- Coach others on effective instructional delivery in both synchronous and asynchronous formats to maximize participant engagement and learning outcomes.
- Responsible for managing, maintaining and overseeing the district’s Learning Management System (LMS). Assist in user accounts, course creation and management, ensuring accurate records, report generation, and staff compliance.
- Oversee the district's orientation program by designing and facilitating the curriculum to effectively integrate new hires. Collaborate with relevant staff to ensure a smooth onboarding process and help new employees acclimate to the organization’s culture, policies, and values.
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with record retention requirements. Track employee training progress, update documentation, and ensure all training materials are properly stored and accessible according to organizational policies and regulations.
- Responsible for the oversight and management of the district performance evaluation program. This includes routine performance reviews, new employee probationary/trial reviews and performance improvement plans.
- Work closely with managers and supervisors to ensure performance reviews are clear, actionable, and aligned with individual, departmental, and organizational goals. Provide guidance and coaching on crafting meaningful, constructive feedback that follows district processes and supports employee development.
- Assist in the development of performance improvement plans (PIPs), collaborating with managers to create plans that are specific, measurable, and focused on growth. Ensure PIPs are aligned with both organizational objectives and the employee’s professional development.
- Manage the staff development and training committee, coordinating team members and providing direction and guidance.
- Collaboratively manage district-wide projects and community projects; responsible for communication of a function area; attend meetings and participate in committees and/or organizations that further the library’s mission and goals.
- Stay informed of current trends in human resources, organizational development, and individual development practices. Continuously monitor industry trends and emerging best practices to enhance and improve training initiatives and employee development strategies.
Qualifications
To be considered, applicants must have
- Bachelor’s degree in related field of study required or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years of work experience in learning and development.
- Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience managing people and/or projects.
Preferred Experience and Knowledge includes
- Experience with Learning Management Systems.
- Experienced and comfortable with public speaking, leading a classroom setting, and guiding the work of others.
- Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and/or Google products.
Salary : $66,556 - $96,834
