PURPOSE

The Director of Health and Wellness is responsible for student health programs and nursing services, as well as strategic employee wellness activities associate with FWCS health and wellness clinics.

IMPORTANT DETAILS

  • Work Schedule: 52 Weeks
  • Work Hours: Agreed upon at hire

MINIMUM QUALIFACTIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health services, or related field
  • Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana and valid Indiana driver’s license
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience involving nursing services and/or employee wellness programs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Primary functions may include the following duties, responsibilities, skills, abilities and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions within this classification.

Creating the Culture

  • Interview and select health and wellness department employees and ensure professional onboarding, talent management, placement, evaluation and separation are compliant and respectful

Leadership

  • Direct the development and implementation of health services projects for all stakeholders
  • Serve as the FWCS liaison to Parkview Hospital and other community health partners.

Accountable for Results

  • Implement department procedures that advocate healthy practices and provide effective patient services, including referrals when appropriate
  • Adhere to policies related to record-keeping and reporting of health information
  • Ensure quality improvement procedures and processes are successfully executed

Managing Resources

  • Coordinate health services and programs across all school sites and support facilities
  • Maintain and implement program timelines in compliance with policy and, where applicable, state and federal law Professional Development
  • Lead professional development activities for students and staff concerning communicable diseases, first aid, CPR, wellness initiatives and other health matters to enhance student health
  • Provide educational resources that promote a healthy and productive workforce
  • Prepare and deliver oral presentations to educate, engage and connect students and employees in disease prevention and wellness

Communication and Support

  • Provide and deliver communications, activities and information to health care agencies, community resources, outside organizations and the general public
  • Establish and support partnerships to provide, facilitate and enhance student health and employee wellness programs and services

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of contemporary health care services and systems that allow for optimal health and wellness of students and staff
  • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities; this includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local operations for the safety and well-being of students and staff
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, customer service, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology

Skills

  • Skilled in providing guidance and expert advice to management or other groups on technical, systems-, or process-related topics associated with health and wellness
  • Skilled in determining how a department should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes
  • Skilled in identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Skilled in understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
  • Skilled in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
  • Skilled in monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Skilled in communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience
  • Skilled in understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making

Abilities

  • The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical Demands – Must be able to push, pull, lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion.
  • Working Conditions – Generally acceptable working environment with limited exposure to disagreeable elements. Exposure to such conditions may make working environment disagreeable or cause discomfort occasionally but has minor impact on personal safety and/or mental well-being.
  • Driving Requirement –This job description does not require the incumbent to drive; however, any employee who chooses or is asked to drive an FWCS vehicle for work related community business must receive written annual authorization to do so.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $115,129.00 - $151,249.00 per year
