PURPOSE
Organize, coordinate and implement health services including oversight of student health programs and nursing services; coordinate communications, daily operations, troubleshooting, record keeping functions and personnel to meet student needs and assure smooth, effective and efficient health services: train and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel. Maintain and support a collaborative culture that protects the health of our stakeholders and promotes and improves wellbeing for all.

MINIMUM QUALIFACTIONS
Any combination equivalent to: degree or diploma in nursing or closely related field. A bachelor’s degree in nursing, education or health related field is recommended but not required. A minimum of 5 years of school nursing experience and additional 2 years of nursing experience in related field is required. Must have strong planning, supervisory, analytical, computer, organizational, and oral and written communication skills. Must be able to manage projects independently. Incumbents must possess advanced knowledge of methods, terminology, principles, practices, procedures, materials, requirements, processes, policies, objectives and equipment applicable to school and pediatric nursing. Must have a valid registered nursing license in the State of Indiana and must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plan, organize, coordinate and implement nursing services to insure smooth and consistent operations. Monitor, evaluate and adjust nursing services to meet student needs.
- Coordinate communications, information, record keeping functions and personnel to meet student health needs and assure smooth and efficient health services; participate in development and implementation of student health programs and services; assure timely resolution of health issues and conflicts.
- Train and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; participate with interviews and assist in selection of employees and recommend transfers, reassignment and disciplinary actions; coordinate nursing work assignments.
- Supervise the implementation of health programs and services by District nursing staff; establish and maintain nursing time lines and priorities; visit school sites to provide health management services, observe activities, monitor and report progress, provide technical support, confer with staff and administrators, and assure student health needs are being met.
- Coordinate nursing services, communications, activities and information between school sites, students, families, personnel, and health care agencies.
- Attend various meetings related to Medicaid billing for school nursing services. Collect, monitor, and accurately enter data for Medicaid billing associated with school nursing services, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and timely submission of claims.
- Participate in the preparation and maintenance of various records, reports and files related to students and health programs and services; assure proper maintenance of health records; maintain a system for recording reporting and evaluation health programs and personnel.
- Provider consultation to students, families, faculty, staff concerning health programs, services; respond to inquiries and provide detailed technical information concerning related standards, requirements, practices, issues, needs, activities, law codes, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Implement, coordinate and conduct in-services and educational activities for students and staff concerning health programs, services, issues, problems, communicable diseases, first aid, CPR and other health matters; explain related principles, theories, standards, guidelines, requirements, practices, procedures and technique; prepare and deliver oral presentations.
- Provide nursing services for designated students and staff as required; screen and evaluate medical conditions and identify illnesses, injuries, medical emergencies; provide treatment and administer first aid and emergency medical care as necessary; coordinate response to emergency situations.
- Refer students and families to appropriate community resource and services as needed.
- Monitor and maintain adequate inventory levels of Health Services supplies.
- Attend, conduct and participate in a variety of meetings.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the Administrator to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.
