PURPOSE
Monitor activities in the lobby and front entrance of the building, including sign - in procedures. Perform a variety of receptionist and general clerical duties in support of an assigned division, department or unit; answer phones and greet and assist visitors.
IMPORTANT DETAILS
- Work Schedule: 52 Weeks
- Work Hours: 12 pm – 5 pm Monday – Friday
MINIMUM QUALIFACTIONS
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year of general clerical experience involving frequent public contact. Security assistant work experience preferred. The employee must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to use effective deductive reasoning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Greet and assist visitors with securing a visitor badge screen and direct visitors to appropriate offices, sites and personnel; notify staff of visitors; distribute a variety of materials to visitors. Maintain an accurate visitor log with all visitors signing in and out. Collect visitor badges when visitors exit the building.
- Inform visitors and staff, when necessary, of building rules to maintain healthy, safe and orderly working environments. Call for support or takes appropriate action if necessary to ensure the safety and order of the building.
- Explains and follows the building package pick - up and delivery procedures; assists staff in building with handling package pick-ups; accepts and signs for certified and express mail and related deliveries. Contact the appropriate office in a timely manner to ensure packages are picked up and delivered. Reports any suspicious packages to the proper administrator or authorities.
- Respond to general questions in a professional and courteous manner.
- Compile information and maintain a variety of records and logs related to assigned services and activities; record and log telephone calls as directed; prepare routine reports; establish and maintain filing systems.
- Schedule and arrange appointments, meetings and other events as directed; maintain meeting, conference room or other assigned calendars and schedules.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the Administrator to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.
- Confer and collaborate with Security Department Administrators, concerning staff and visitor behavior, security, safety and enforcement activities. Report incidents involving the public to Security Administrators.
- Escort and/or direct authorized visitors to desired destinations; provide general information and assistance; assure visitors are authorized; direct and /or escort unauthorized visitors off campus.
- Provide support to Grile staff in maintaining a safe and secure environment; locate and escort visitors to and from administrative offices or parking areas as needed.
- Monitor campus for illegal activity; investigate and report instances of graffiti, panhandling and vandalism; confer with and assist the security department and/or law enforcement agencies concerning illegal or safety violations.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
- New employees must successfully complete their probationary period to be eligible to apply for posted positions.
- Employees must remain in their current position a minimum of sixty (60) calendar days to be eligible to apply for any non-lateral posted position.
- Current non-probationary employees may only apply for lateral positions at the end of each school year.

The incumbent will be required to lift, carry and/or push 25 pounds or more as assigned. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
