Transportation Coordinator of Safety and Student Management
PURPOSE
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible to coordinate and strengthen student management in support of the Code of Conduct; coordinate student disciplinary processes, safety programs and functions in support of transportation operations and activities; coordinate communications, student management training for bus drivers and bus assistants, initial response to bus accidents, and sharing of information to assure the safe and secure transportation of students on district buses; coordinate the schedule of assigned personnel and supervise their performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFACTIONS
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent with transportation experience related to student management, safety, security and student discipline functions.
- Licensure: Commercial Driver’s License issued by the State of Indiana or ability to obtain CDL in six months.
- Experience working with the general public and addressing community-related issues.
- Leadership abilities, with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications and technology, with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Knowledgeable in training and evaluating employee skills sets to ensure team development and effectiveness.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation methods, terminology, principles, practices, procedures, materials, requirements, processes, and equipment relevant to the position
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Support, coordinate, and direct strategies to manage student conduct, creating a safe and orderly environment on district school buses and at bus stops to ensure the safety and rights of all students.
- Coordinate communication with transportation staff, school and district administrators, parents, and the community regarding student discipline to ensure compliance with the Code of Conduct and District policies.
- Coordinate and facilitate in-service training for bus drivers, bus assistants, and transportation office staff. Provide direction and guidance for addressing student conduct, working with parents and the public, and ensuring safety and security.
- Support and implement strategies for safety, security, and disaster preparedness related to school buses and transportation facilities. Train all transportation personnel on these strategies.
- Coordinate and facilitate communications with the District Security Department, local law enforcement agencies, and state agencies regarding the safety and security of students, staff, and school buses.
- Develop, coordinate, and manage procedures for responding to bus accidents and student medical emergencies that occur on the bus.
- Assist in the creation, coordination and implementation of procedures for responding to severe weather conditions and assist in evaluating weather conditions to inform decisions about school closures.
- Perform all related duties as assigned by the Transportation Director and/or Transportation Manager.
